Print Entry Form

Print Competitions

New Members can decide if they want to be in Novice or Advanced Group.  They must remain in the same group during the competition year.


Print Divisions

1. Color: Images are photographed by the maker; printed by the maker either in the dark room, on maker’s computer, or by commercial laboratory.


2. Monochrome:  Black and white prints are photographed by the maker, printed by the maker either in the dark room, on maker’s computer, or by a commercial laboratory. 

 

Number of Prints 

A member may enter a total of three (3) prints in each competition, and prints entered may be divided between Color and Monochrome, or all in either division.


Print Preparation:

Prints must be mounted, and may be matted, but may not be framed. Mount board (or foam core) should be used to support the print. 


Print Sizes:

Prints in both divisions: 

Minimum: 5 x 7 excluding a mat

Maximum: 16 x 20 including a mat


Identification (Labeling):

The following information is to be on the form that is applied to the back of the print in the upper left corner: 

a. Division entered i.e. Color or Monochrome

b. Title of Print

c. Maker’s name

In addition, the long form containing the same information must be submitted with each print at least 15 minutes before start of the meeting. 

Digital Competition

Digital images are judged in Novice and Advanced like prints, with the subject matter considered “Open” unless otherwise specified. Images may be of any subject in good taste, e.g. pictorial, nature, travel, scenic, portraits, human interest, photojournalism, or creative, including digitally enhanced. Club members can enter by email up to three (3) digital images that may be color or monochrome. 


Digital File Requirements

File Format: JPEG, JPG (*.jpg) - REQUIRED


Color Space: sRGB (Recommended for best color rendering by digital projector)


Maximum file size: 1 Megabyte (MB) - Same as 1,000 KB


Image dimensions are limited to a max 1400 horizontal pixels, and max 1050 vertical pixels.

Dimensions are maximums and not reversible


Digital Image Naming Standards

Sample naming of files for submitting three (3) images from “Percy Adams”: 

1_AdamsP_Monument Valley Mittens.jpg

2_AdamsP_Penguins Dancing.jpg

3_AdamsP_Tulips Soaking up Sun.jpg


Steps for file name construction:

1. Start each digital file name with a different number 1, 2 or 3, followed by underscore

2. Maker's Last name and First initial, Uppercase/Lowercase followed by underscore

3. Image Title, Upper/Lower case, max 30 characters with words separated by spaces and no special characters (Title as it would appear in the newsletter or on an award)

4. File Extension .jpg ( take care to avoid the “.jpg.jpg” situation)


Email image files as attachments to the Digital Chairman at fresnocameraclub.digital@gmail.com.

Images are due to the Digital Chairman no later than seven (7) days before the competition day. 

Images are entered “as is” with no remediation by the Digital Chairman.


Format for Email Submission (see sample email below)

Subject: [First and Last Name] FCC [Month Year] Digital Entries  Novice or Advanced Group

(Ex: Percy Adams FCC February 2026 Digital Entries -Novice)


Attachments: Included images as three (3) attachments to your email, do not embed images within the email (results are unpredictable and often result in lost images).


Body of Email: Indicate number of images submitted.



Year End Awards

At the end of each calendar year, Fresno Camera Club holds an Annual Awards Luncheon at a designated location for members, family and friends. Winners of the year-end digital images and prints competitions receive plaques and other awards.


High Points – Year end awards will be given to those members who have accumulated the most points in competitions throughout the current calendar year. 


Awards will be given for: 

High Points for Color Prints (First, Second and Third Place) 

High Points for Monochrome Prints (First, Second and Third Place) 

High Points for Digital Images (First, Second and Third Place) 


Best of the Year - Year end awards will also be given to the best previously entered images in competition during the current calendar year for: 


Best Color Print 


Best Monochrome Print 


Best Digital Image 


A member may enter up to:

Four (4) previously entered Color Prints 

Four (4) previously entered Monochrome Prints

Bring Print entries to the Luncheon, labels must be on the back 

and no forms needed.

Four (4) previously entered Digital Images

Deadline to send Digital Images to the FCC Digital Chairman is one week before the luncheon.


Trophy Awards - Year end trophy awards will be given for: 


Elmer Lew Memorial Award for Best Portrait. 


S. Louise Stull Memorial Award for Best Flora 


Hanna Barsam Memorial Award for Best Architecture.


Fresno Camera Club Award for Best Wildlife


Fresno Camera Club Award for Best Scenic. 


Fresno Camera Club Revolving Trophy for Best Pet. 


A member may enter one (1) Print for each of the above listed “Trophy” categories. The print may be new or previously entered from any monthly club competitions. Entries from past Trophy Awards are not eligible regardless of category. If the print is new, it still can be entered in a future monthly club competition.


President’s Award – This is an optional award made by the President at his/her discretion.
